Staff tried to be accommodating but so many obstacles.

Parking was terrible & we had to PAY for it. Should be free given how awful it was. Woke up early one morning and could not exit the building by the fire escape stairs until staff unlocked it. Thank goodness there was no fire... Understand locking the door against entry but NOT allowing guests to exit at any time is a disaster waiting to happen.

        Food was ok

No airconditioning and parking was a joke - Cheek to charge for that! Noisey area found it hard to get to sleep with people talking and smoking down below our window

        location and cost were good

The taxi arranged by the hotel for a trip to the airport arrived 15 minutes late so we got one ourselves before it arrived.

        It was clean.

The fact that I booked a Queen room that was a lot smaller than the pictures - there was no table and chair as shown in the picture. It was a very small very tight room. I did not want to go back down and change rooms as I checked in quite late.

Location Room was cleaned daily and water etc restocked

The information on the Booked.net website was different to that of the ascotia website so this was misleading Lift was not working The shower taps were around the wrong way and it took ten minutes for the hot water to heat up for a shower Light in the hall way flickering and dark when walking through on the fifth floor

Value for money! Got what I paid for.

Blah blah blah, my life is not so empty that I need to nitpick the faults of 3-4 star hotels

      • Couple

This is a newly renovated hotel so everything was pretty much pristine. Which I loved. I didn't worry about seeing a stray hair and wondering who the previous guests were. We had the executive king room (or however they called it). Which just probably meant, extra space and an 'office', which was a tiny supply closet-type area separated by a very heavy door. It housed a desk and a wardrobe and a chair. It wasn't very office-like and none of us would have wanted to actually sit in there. But there is a sign that says 'keep door closed at all times', I'm not sure why. I think it was due to the fact that the noise in the hallways travel into that office room and gets quite loud. The bathroom was pretty big, there is a lovely shower with no actual 'shower'. As in, no walls, you're just showering on the floor and you can close the shower curtain around the designated shower area, which I actually really liked. The water doesn't get anywhere else aside from the shower area and the water drains very fast and the floors are made for this so they dry very fast. I always hate looking at disgustingly dingy tubs/shower walls and accidentally touching the gross curtains/walls if the showers are too small (and I'm 5'2"!). It's nice to shower without any restriction around me. Again, it felt very clean. It's technically a handicap shower since there was a bench there. We had a brand new flat screen tv which was great. Huge windows, but two layers of curtains to block out all sunlight if necessary. The staff were alright, we didn't interact with them very much, so I can't say how friendly they were. They seemed just friendly enough and not overly so. But we rarely care about how the staff are anywhere, unless they are extremely rude or annoying. The rate was awesome since I guess they are luring new customers while they are still renovating.

I don't really have much complaints at all here. Yes, there are no air conditioners or ceiling fans as the other guests have noted. But it was pretty cool at night. So if there is no heatwave, you should be fine. It was summer when we were there but the nights were consistently in the 60s F. The wifi is not free, it's $5 for 200 mb which easily runs out after a few hours of web searching. But I guess enough for the night until you buy another token. My gripe here is that they make you pay in cash, but also ask you what your room number is, which I don't understand. I knew that was a mistake waiting to happen. So I bought two wifi 'tokens' on two separate days. And on one day, the staff noted that I paid in cash in my room's account. On the second day, I paid cash again, they noted it on my account but said it was not paid in cash. The curious thing was, the staff member basically said we owed $10, for the internet use. And was waiting for our payment. My boyfriend, being British and hating confrontation was taking out money from his pocket until I, being the New Yorker, piped up and said "wait a minute, we were told to pay that in cash each time we got it". And the staff member said "you paid the first time in cash, but not the second". Ok, so anyone reading up to this part will notice something suspicious here-- he had asked us to pay $10 first, despite the computer saying we paid $5 the first time, but not the second time (even though we paid both times). So, the staff member had actually blatantly just told us he lied to us. Which I find quite funny but also pretty dishonest. So, this is when I raised my voice and told him once again, we were told we had to pay in cash both times before getting our wifi token. After he saw I was not going to quit, he quickly gave up on the dispute. Honestly, I don't think $5 or even $10 was worth a bad reputation if you're a new hotel.

Clean tidy modern rooms, great city location

Shower pressure was poor, $25 charge for parking is excessive, no rubbish bin, only 2 coffee sachets each morning, no menus for room service or information pack in room

        Clean motel

The reason we choose this location was because was rated as a 4 stars hotel. This is not a 4 stars hotel. Easily you can find a 2 stars hotel with better conditions and better money. We booked the best room they have !!! and ... The walls are paper, you can hear everything from the other rooms - one night our neighbor use the toilet and I was thinking that somebody is in our toilet. The rooms are very small - no space for baggage and if you open the door easily you will step directly into the bed. No storage in the room - there is no one drawer or a furniture door in the room. No value for money - the rates are high considering the room size and facilities.

Location...it's 30 seconds to Queen street!! Safe and very central. The room was clean, well maintained, bed was comfortable. Good value for money. Staff were professional and check in was easy.

Room and bathrooom can feel a bit small, but if you are there mainly for a clean place to sleep in and considering the price, this is good. I ordered Pancakes for breakfast at the Tropicana cafe which is a part of the hotel. Charge was $13.50 and $3 for filter cofee. Was disappointed.. Was provided with two small sized pancakes, a baked banana and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup and berry compote. Wasn't enough for the entire meal. I had to ration the maple syrup and berry compote and even then the last bits of my b'fast were dry. Filter coffee was instant coffee mixed with hot water. Didn't enjoy b'fast and felt it was too pricey for what was provided.
